“Shannon Loys, a graphic designer, had never read the play but knew it was “the epitome of the American dream gone bad.” She translated that into this image of a briefcase-cum-coffin. The strong silhouette of a cross adds an ecumenical twist to the question of whether Willy Loman is Jewish. The American flag is rendered in orange, suggesting danger and caution. Distressing the text adds “age and grit,” she said.”
